Constantine, I don't think I am wrong on either count. While Celeron did end up putting pressure on AMD, it also opened Intel up to a brand new market. Looking at consumer demand today, it was a very good thing that Intel chose to pursue the lower margin markets.

As for Coppermine, you have to understand that these code names are chosen very early in the architectural stage of development. Since Coppermine was launched in late 1999, we might be able to assume that it was being architected three years before. In 1996 (or even 1997), I guarantee you that AMD was not advertising the benefits of copper interconnect technology, and Intel marketing couldn't have known in advance to take advantage of the naming scheme. Face it - it's a coincidence.
