I saw this at the end of a Reuters story about those 650 people currently being held for investigation:

In northern California, an Immigration and Naturalization Service affidavit alleged that Nabil Sarama, a Palestinian, made a false statement to obtain a permanent residency card. Sarama was arrested Sept. 16 in Orlando, Fla., after police found him near a pay phone that had been used to make bomb threats, the documents alleged.

A search of his suitcase, the affidavit said, turned up a kit capable of making between eight and 12 box cutters - like the weapons used by the Sept. 11 hijackers. He also had a California Department of Motor Vehicles identification card, a Georgia driver's license, four Florida identification cards and a Palestinian Authority passport.

No doubt he is considered one of those unfairly arrested for a "minor" immigration charge without any relationship to terrorism. I am sure he thought he had to get a local driver's license each time he crossed a state line and that the four identity cards were caused by disagreements among his multiple personalities.

The box-cutters were undoubtedly just brought along in case he needed to do any auto repairs during his road trip - you never know when one will break just as you are cutting open a throat, I mean a box of parts.

I pretty much don't have a choice on the flying thing. I had it down to a routine that I was comfortable with before and now that routine is shot, so it is an added discomfort.

My guess is that one of the biggie airlines will have to go under before they realize that throwing money, bodies and tedious tasks at the security issue, will not fix a process that is broken.
