Expecting to get back in at a lower price when others take their tax losses? Trying to take yours "early" so you can buy back from the last-minute sellers?

Could it be that the weakness the last few days in some of these stocks (like AVCI) is a result of too many others doing the same as you?

Friday is the last day you can take a loss and still be able to get back in before year end (while others are presumably still taking tax losses on 12/31) without a wash sale. And since 12/31 will likely be a slow, illiquid day, most who would want back in at the presumed year-end low should have sold by today.

I'm not so sure that last year's last-minute tax loss selling wasn't the exception. Doesn't it usually hit a bit earlier?

Bob
