You meant to say "Intel is the preeminent supplier of commodity Flash memory ". As far as Intel doing much better than AMD in flash, got a link?

I don't understand your fixation here... ALL flash memory is commodity. No one pays a premium for any of it. Period.

Re: "As is StrataFlash on 0.13 micron. It's not shipping either."

Huh ?

StrataFlash IS shipping and HAS BEEN shipping for 3 years.

Guess what - Smoke and Mirror Bit won't be shipping on 0.03 micron process for 10 years !

Re: "As far as Intel doing much better than AMD in flash, got a link? "

Do you comprehend business levels being DOWN 30% (AMD) versus FLAT (Intel) ?

AMD -

jc-news.com

<Hector> Thank you Bob, The flash market continues to be weak in general, although all market segments appear to have stabilized the communications and networking segments are at the lowest level in two years. It is now believed that the?? in flash could be down as much as 30% this year over last year and our expectations are that AMD will be down around 25% for the year, thus outperforming the market. This quarter as previously guided our flash revenue was down 33% from the previous quarter.

Intel -

Revenues for the wireless group, comprised mostly of Flash, were approximately flat with the second quarter at $509 million dollars. Order(?) patterns(?) of the Flash business suggests that the business has stabilized and we should see new orders approximating(?) the consumption rate of finished product going forward.
