If I were spending more that 3 days in one spot, requiring air travel to get me there, I would be willing to send my luggage UPS.

If I'm spending 2 weeks....what the hell do I need luggage for the moment I arrive. I'd send it the day before.

I'm getting extreme here......ok....a little stoopid, too.

More people would feel comfortable checking bags if the ground crews were more trustworthy (you should see the documentaries where the baggage handlers rifle through luggage looking for valuables) as well as more reliable. I remember landing in Amsterdam once and my luggage getting delivered to east bumfuck. It was December and it was farkin cold. The passengers are just reacting to the deficiencies of the airlines.
