If the NDX retests lows, then true the NDX may still be overvalued. But you will find some of its components undervalued. I don't think S80 ever said the whole index or all stocks will be undervalued, just that you will soon see undervalued stocks.

I don't see him as a perma bear at all.

Just saw a Bear Stearns guy on CNN saying that the stock market being up 20% since Sep lows means that the economy must be recovering. As if most of the people buying in the last 8 weeks have a clue about what the economy is going to do.

If the market looks ahead 6 mths and is "smart" as an indcator of future prospects, what was it saying about Enron 6 mths ago?

You already have the lows so you can do the calculations from there. Historically PEs averaged 13.5 or so. 2x for high growth companies. Markets however have also been known to undershoot by 40-50% from those numbers on real bottoms. Good luck to you.
