Dell reaffirms fourth quarter earnings outlook
NEW YORK, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp. (NasdaqNM:DELL - news) Chief Executive Michael Dell reaffirmed the No. 1 PC maker's outlook for the fourth quarter, saying he expects earnings of 16 cents per share, unchanged from the third quarter.

Dell, who was speaking at the Credit Suisse First Boston conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, also reaffirmed his expectations for revenues to rise slightly in the fourth quarter from the $7.5 billion the company booked in the third quarter.

Demand for personal computers has been weak for the past year as both consumers and corporations have reined in spending. Dell, however, said there is now pent-up demand for desktop and notebook computers that should lead to a recovery sometime next year.

``We don't know when these replacements will occur but you can't push them out forever,'' said Dell, who has repeatedly said he sees a recovery in mid-2002.

Dell shares were off about 1.4 percent, or 37 cents, at $26.09 in mid-afternoon Nasdaq trading.
