PerkinElmer Inc. Explosive Detector May Be Ready Soon, FAA Says
By J. Kyle Foster

Atlantic City, New Jersey, Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- PerkinElmer Inc., a maker of laboratory instruments, is almost ready to bring an airport explosive-detection system to the Federal Aviation Administration for approval, FAA Administrator Jane Garvey said.

PerkinElmer would become the third company with an approved device, she said. The FAA is working with the company to try to meet a Congressional deadline requiring explosive-detection machines all airports by the end of next year to allow screening of all checked baggage.

``We're going to do everything humanly possible to meet that deadline,'' Garvey said during a news conference at the Aviation Security Technology Symposium in Atlantic City, New Jersey, today.

PerkinElmer spokesman Kevin Lorenc said the company has an ``ongoing relationship'' with the FAA and that would be premature to comment on when the company may have something to announce.

L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. and InVision Technologies Inc. are the two companies with FAA certification. The FAA is hoping to partner with other companies that make less expensive, smaller versions of those currently certified to use in small airports, said FAA spokeswoman Rebecca Trexler.

The shares of PerkinElmer, based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, fell $1.04 to $27.95 and have declined 47 percent this year.

that cracking you hear is the pelvis bone of longs...

LOL!! Better than the screams of agony from the broken spines of A@P's group, who have been short this stock since the end of September.

I'm looking for retracement back to $15/share or so, but that could require a week or two. Right now it's looking to test 10day MA support at $16/share.

All I can say is that those who went long on pull backs, and then short on gap ups, have been very well rewarded.

Hawk

Off Topic. Ha! Terayon(TERN) REALLY went your way long after you closed out, but not only did you write a plainly and unquestionably criminally false report about the nature of Terayon's business here on SI in order to aid your avowed short position, but I see you've lost your little butt on this one. I don't feel for you. Perhaps now is the time to short here, eh? You think?

Just a little tit for tat as,
