EBAY has a high valuation because they are perceived as having a monopoly on the web garage sale business. Someday their slow growth will be reflected in their valuation (maybe 2003). Until then, it will continue to be a web darling.

jjstingray: I've learned the hard way not to short stocks I think are ridiculously overvalued if they show relative strength compared to their sector. For that reason, I would not short: EBAY, KKD, PNRA, ERTS, and NVDA. Shorts are better placed on stocks that show extreme volatility, overshooting the NASDAQ index in both directions.
