Tench, I thought my last 20-30 posts made it clear. The benefits are the following but not necessarily in order of importance. Marketing, ego, control of ISA, implied obsolesence of AMD's extensions, implied delay of future AMD CPUS since they WILL have to include Intel's extensions, implied superiority in special benchmarks that only use Intel's extensions, implied financial peril to AMD for all of the above implied reasons.
