Lorne, I agreed with you. These guys are smart. They made deals while things are cheap and well position for the future. I bought some PVE yesterday to average down(although today its much cheaper, but I got the dividend.

Hi Lorne,

I agree it's a good acquisition and I like that it is so gas heavy. I was just taken aback a bit because,,,, well you know what we've all experienced with trusts raising funds through offerings, so of course on a day when everything else was going swimmingly for me for a change (even KOB don't ya know) I was fearing the worst.

EXTRA EXTRA Read all about it, AVN Halted reserves grossly overstated.... LOL......

I liked Search, Alias Advantage, as an E&P, and I got wind of them originally from a fellow over on the old Yahoo GOU board where I used to hang out mostly.

But alls well that ends well.

Good luck with those shorts. You're braver than I, but I guess you're shorting them for the reasons I don't own em right now, well NCF and SHN as I don't know much about ERF. ;o)

Lorne,
Do you know if AVN's hedges have any exposure to Enron? I read an article that stated if Enron went bk (which will probably happen) then the contracts with Enron would be worthless. This is very important to Advantage and Prime West since they are heavily hedged. I know Apache closed out their hedges due to the Enron problems and they didn't even have direct hedges with Enron. I'm going to call IR tomorrow and try to get an answer to this concern.

Lorne if TD 's outlook even comes close to being realized AVN will be in the crapper with all the others regardless how good there hedging appears. What has to be kept in mind is companies have to reassess the MV of their assets in light of any drop in the price being received. One thing that worries me is that this latest purchase appears to be at a fairly high price and while they may be quality assets if gas goes to $2.50 over the winter then once next summer comes is still in this range with lots of gas in storage look out. It is times like these that one can see the reason why they have to pay out yield of 20+% on these trusts
