Since Mr. Lay was the largest personal donor to W's campaign (and his brother also gave heavily, not to mention the company itself), and since it was, if I recall correctly, Mr. Lay and his brother who admitted, after much media speculation, anonymously buying with their own money something like $2.5m of ads bashing John McCain prior to the SC primary which was instrumental in checking McCain's momentum at the time and ensuring W's nomination.... I doubt if the government will do anything at all.

Well, perhaps W will say to ENE shareholders something like, "I feel your pain". Republicans tend to bail out corporations and wealthy people who give them large campaign donations, not those no longer in any position to give donations. IMHO, of course.
