But you did state that the possibility that the population made adaptations...
Of course, cultures change over time even those which feel steeped in history. I think I tried to make it clear that I don't know enough about current Egyptian culture to know either how widespread this practice is or whether it is changing to a mostly symbolic ritual instead of the extreme rite that was described. I suggest the issue is complex.
