Paul, Re: "The nFarce AMD Saviour"

Imagine how many flames you'd get if you had suggested nForce instabilities and overly high cost structure about 4 months ago. This was the chipset that was supposed to hand the entire performance market squarely in AMD's pocket. Now I'm sure the AMDroids will say that AMD didn't need that chipset, anyway. <g>

Paul, Re nVidia chipset article:

"Even though it's higher price tag may hold it back somewhat, the biggest problem we've seen with the MSI K7N420Pro and the nVidia nForce so far is stability. We experienced more than a few lockups and black screens upon boot, which were always fixable, but nonetheless annoying...."

Fixable? By reboot I assume. What does he consider unfixable, latchup or meltdown?

This is to be expected though, as it's nVidia's first chipset on the market. It may take them a few revisions to get all the kinks worked out. Let's hope most of the stability issues can be fixed via software or BIOS upgrades. "

Let's make excuses for the new kid on the block. What a hoot. This is exactly the kind of product that needs to get out there clean, except maybe with some more obscure "errata" or "sightings" than what is described.
