As others on this thread said (I missed the first posting of the article), Margolis overplays the Russian advantage, but it's an interesting perspective nonetheless.

speculated on the notion that we're about to replace Saudi Arabia with Russia as our preferred energy supplier. Seems likely to me. It's clear we (i.e. U.S. policy makers) have our collective head up our a$$ relying on either one of these completely unreliable partners. Alas, the notion of using the collective intelligence of our technology industries to avoid dependency on dysfunctional foreign suppliers seems to never quite get the consideration it deserves. While we fund some really questionable characters with billions that they can and will turn against us. Interesting, n'est pas?
