Albert,

I believe they did order from Siotec. I don't think that the order can be taken as validation of any kind of problem, though. I haven't expected to see T-birds on sales until mid Q2, so I won't get worried until that looks at risk.

What worries me a lot more is the HP/Compaq merger. HP is locked into IA-64. If HP defines the product strategy for the combined company, AMD could be shut out of the top 5 OEMs. Hammer could be left without a home. Also, I think HP adopted Athlon in response to competition from Compaq. Without this competition, they might even drop that line. However, if the deal doesn't go through, everyone might have to hedge their bets with Hammer.

Albert,

Did not amd ordered wafers from soitec recently?

I believe those wafers will be for SOI parts. The parts scheduled for Q1 are Thoroughbred and Apaloosa, which are going to be bulk silicon parts.
