Again, missing the point!!! Not to patronize or insult you in any way but emphasizing the difficulty most Americans
are going to have getting their minds and hearts around what we face with islamic fundamentalists (capitalization
of word not unintentional!)...THEY DO NOT CARE WHO DIES.. GET IT? THEY DON'T CARE!! Might be an interesting exercise for you to spend a few days on the net and perhaps on Amazon.com website researching
Islam, to wit one book of interest, it taking me a month to get it, "Why I Am Not a Muslim" by Ibn Warraq.
They are essentially not peaceful (Turkey apparently has taken a welcome detour as their parliament has just endorsed equal rights for women, anathema in all other muslim countries except for pre-Ahiatolla(sp?)-Iran.
I maintain as incontestible the position that a Muslim cannot truly participate wholeheartedly in a democracy.
Such allegience to a system such as ours would violate the First Pillar of Islam ( there are five of 'em). To those who would reflexly admonish me that ALL religions can/could be that way...no argument. BUT and very BIG BUT, Catholicism had its Martin Luther, the Orthodox Jews have their Reformed Jewish branch, and not to be outdone, we still have Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson in THIS country, and yeah, I consider them a major problem to maintainance of liberty in our country. Like Franklin said when asked "What's it be be, Dr. Franklin?" at the end of the Constitutional convention..."A republic, if you can keep it."
And Jefferson who said each generation must fight its own replay of the War for Independence. Jesse Ventura is right. It IS going to get ugly (or we lose), and everyone who doesn't have some assetts in gold is a poor fool.

"... it is not wise to destroy all your people as well as others."

Darleen,

A friend of mine from planet Pluto has just completed it's assigment
of living on this planet Earth for 3,500 of your Earth years and report
in 20 words or less what it observed.

The report in full is as follows.

"Men that obtained military power found it wise to use it."

This opinion has embedded a clue to understand the cause
and effect type error made in the posts of jim black made today,
for example a word (un)sagacious describes the following.
