Reinventing Enterprise Storage

Introducing the Storage Industry's First 2 Gb/sec FC Virtual Array
and the Fusion of NAS & SAN

October 22, 2001

Compaq announces two exciting and innovative StorageWorks™ enterprise storage solutions that extend the boundaries of performance, availability and scalability by allowing customers to move beyond the limitations of traditional storage.

Compaq announces the following products and solutions:

StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array - Virtually Boundless Storage

The StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array is the newest generation of StorageWorks Disk Arrays by Compaq and is enabled by Versastor Technology.

So clearly we are involved with the Oct 22 release on Compaq 2G Versastor, so why not this new FC switched array?

This would do it for me, as a clear signal that QLGC can switch the SAN. Wouldn't that be something?
Imagine BRCD having a hard time with moving up market to MCDT INRG turf with QLGC embedded arrays eating away at the edge switches?

We need validation on what might be happening at CPQ.
Anyone able to help us out? Thanks in advance.

PS QLGC has always said watch the transitions and has an excellent track record of selling one part to a company and doing a good job and then selling another and another. I hope that the, "get your foot in the door" strategy that Q has works at CPQ for them. Hoping for the best.
