Self-awareness is just another physiological factor or a human life. Blue eye, blond hair, White skin. When does a very retarded person become self aware. When does a genius become self aware. The sick practical results of tigerpaw's reasoning is that with the proper means of measurement, all or the majority of 1 to several month old children could be killed and that would not be murder. They could be used for body parts and many experiments. But is there not some IQ level required to be self-aware. A who class of retarded human beings could be cloned or created and be used for medical research like any other animals. A drug could be developed to prevent self-awareness and another entire class of cells, tigerpaw non humans would be available for whatever purpose. I do wonder if tigerpaw was or is ever self-aware. tom watson tosiwmee

you can't seem to tow the line there, It's a matter of keeping a margin of error that is both within the parameters and yet marked by an event that is hard to misinterpret or misrepresent. I don't think the exact instance of self awareness could be determined precicely so I err on the side of caution. It's not a flip flop, it's an arbitrary but definite time reference, sort of like saying a person is an adult when they are 18 but not a day before. TP
