Good reply, but I do not believe the Japanese could have ignored a few demonstrations of our new bombing capabilities. How unreasonable could it have been to drop one or two A-bombs in a demonstration area, then if after a reasonable amount of time they did not come to their senses, threaten that the next one would be used in a more populated area? At least one warning shot over their bow would not have been unreasonable, and could have prevented more horror.... It also would have eliminated much guilt over using such weapons of mass destruction.
