1999/7/05 - ExWay Inc., a Division of NTT of Japan, Signs Partnership with Imagis to Market Law Enforcement and Security Products

Vancouver, B.C., July 5, 1999 - Imagis Technologies Inc. ("IMAGIS"), a leading supplier of software products to the criminal justice system, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a strategic partnership with ExWAY Inc., a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation ("NTT") of Japan, a world leader in advanced telecommunication services and technology.

The partnership will combine the front line arrest and booking, jail management, facial recognition and property identification software of Imagis with ExWAY's expertise in the Japanese markets.

ExWAY, based in Tokyo, is a leading developer of smart card technology focusing on security applications for banking, health care and law enforcement in Japan and abroad.

"We look forward to concluding our business plan and strategy for a fall launch and the introduction of additional solution offerings in the year 2000," said Mr. Iain Drummond, President of Imagis. "Imagis will be participating with ExWAY at the Scan Tech Show the first week of September in Tokyo. We will demonstrate the Japanese version of CABS, Imagis' flagship arrest and booking system, at this event."

"The Japanese law enforcement market is comprised of a National Police Agency together with police departments in each of Japan's 47 prefectures. There are approximately 1,400 police stations in the country, with 15,000 district offices known as Koban. Imagis' leading edge facial recognition software, and related modules are of great interest and have excellent commercial potential for our market," said Mr. Shin-ichiro Yamada, President of ExWAY Inc. "We expect to combine CABS software with our IC chip technology solutions to provide unique security products for the Japanese market. The association with ExWAY will enable Imagis to benefit from the NTT group's nationwide sales force and provide access to the law enforcement sector," he continued.
