The article indicated the prisoners were killed in cold blood after they screamed and attacked.

There were already accounts from journalists who were PRESENT that the first attack was on a reporter.

They didn't forget to read anything - they just saw the spin immediately for what it was.

You should try it some time.

Span - a 32 year old ex marine with 3 kids - is going to shoot 3 unarmed men if they are not attacking? Try again.

Take a laxative to get that America loathing out of your system and you might pick up some objectivity.

Sounds like he was threatened to me, by someone who ostensibly then moved to make good on the threat.

we should allow Amnesty International to investigate

Hi arun gera,

Agreed, It's just I'm a little surprised that so many press reports and posters seem to disbelieve the correctness of our countries (USA and UK) decisions "on the ground". It looks as if it was Taliban "pre planned" and all hell broke loose. The tourists pulled off a grisly publicity "stunt".

The SF and SAS are the best trained and disciplined troops we have. Far more capable then us of making difficult decisions under stress. The fact they were involved in the prison riot suppression tell me this was no ordinary Dostrum type massacre. I would believe those guys before anyone else.

But you are correct. Lets have Amnesty Internation check the facts independently...no one is perfect.

Uncle West said that the media probably wanted lots of gore to film and report on, looks like they have plenty now. Lets hope it stops there.

Pentagon update.

Pentagon Calls Reports of Afghan Massacre 'Not Believable'

The Pentagon says reports that 160 Taleban prisoners of war in Afghanistan were massacred after a three-day prison uprising are not believable.

Pentagon spokeswoman Victoria Clarke told reporters Thursday that U.S. intelligence assets on the ground near the city of Mazar-e-Sharif have not reported mistreatment of prisoners either before or after the shootout ended Wednesday.

Pro-Taleban captives, who had surrendered at the nearby city of Kunduz, were being questioned when the uprising erupted Sunday.

The anti-Taleban Northern Alliance says as many as 400 prisoners were killed in the revolt, which was quelled with the help of U.S. airstrikes and special forces on the ground. Amnesty International has called for an inquiry into reports that the bodies of hundreds of prisoners killed during the uprising were found with hands tied, indicating they may have been executed.
