that much is explained at the last paragraph but still why did amd back out from getting more flash fab ? doesn't look good imo.

There is a huge oversupply of flash. I think a new fab (JV3?) was put into production just recently. It will take a while until FASL operates at or near capacity. In addition to existing flash fabs, AMD still has Austin, which is converting to flash to satisfy some of the demand.

I think it will be good for both. There is too much flash on the market right now; so closing this plant should help reduce the glut; which in turn should help bring back profitability.
