We could have slowed down a bit, made sure we built enough A-bombs to carry through with our threats in case one or two did not work, and then we could have given them a few demonstrations of mass destruction with limited civilian casualties.... Then warn them again that major cities would be next if they did not comply. Just to drop them on kids and women without proper warning is evil, in my opinion. And of course the Japanese committed many atrocities and were far from angels.... But even with the evil and despicable Taliban, we gave them fair warning and time to turn over Bin Laden or face the music....
