What the hell is drving this market?

Everyone says they still have no visability
but they keep flying higher.

Not that it needs to make sense, mind you,
but this doesn't make any sense.

If this is the pension money flowing in, when
it stops, it'll be ugly.

re: HLIT's irrational rise

Take a look at the company description:

"Harmonic, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets digital and fiber optic systems for delivering video, voice and data services over cable, satellite, telco and wireless networks. Harmonic's products fall into two principal groups, Broadband Access Networks Products and Convergent Systems Products. In addition, the Company provides Professional Services and Systems Support to its customers worldwide."

Now, if you sit and think about the first part (delivering video through fibre/data/etc), that can actually sell.

Of course, HLIT's income statement over the past year is a joke, but now that they've got it behind them, if they pull it together, they can actually make some cash. Not for the faint of heart, however.. $700M worth of capitalization can buy you a lot of other good stuff.
