Yeah, when you really need the buggers its good to know they are there and they act promptly.

The first operation I ever watched was a very large overweight man getting a gall bladder operation the old fashion way. Before all these wonderful minimally invasive techniques they have now. It was a teaching hospital so there were about six interns in the room that were doing their surgery rotation. The attending told them all to reach their hand into the rather large hole (man was lying on his side on the table) and feel the guy's enlarged gall bladder, some of them took several minutes trying to feel what was what. All I could think is this guy is going to wake up feeling like he was beat up from the inside out. The other thought I had was, I hope if I ever need an emergency operation that I don't get taken to a teaching hospital.
