Another disadvantage of the VAT is that we don't see the taxes like we do on April 15 so tax creep is not as apparent to the citizens and we don't protest the increases.

Exactly! Now think about it. How could the president stand before the citizens and justify 50 or 60% of each dollar spent goes to taxes. Its perfect! Gonna take some serious strategery to sell that pig!
