PT, Well, I can convert from inches to MM and back again in my head. I was thinking of the average joe.
That power supply in the illustration certainly looks like a standard sized ATX so I think they tried to make the lowest possible cost box. 130W PS are $12 or so, but a custome external black brick would be $17-19. I do not thonk they need 130 watts either. With a black brick they could make it 3" high and they should relay the MOBO to have a rear power connector to fit the black brick connector. They need to make the hard drives run on the 3.3 volt line as well as the floppy. that way they would need +3.3 and +12. The -12 and -5 current are so low they could come from V-V converters in the +12 for about $1. Is -5 and -12 really needed any more? It used to be the swing voltage for serial ports, but if they do not need serial any more, get rid of the -12. -5 is used by what? I recall they used to use -5 as substrate bias for the early DRAMS. Lose the -5 and all your DRAM literally fried.
I feel there is a market for these tiny footpring systems with a lower profile. the height of this thing is a liablity. Didn't Apple show cubes are DEAD.DEAD.DEAD.?
