8:42AM Compaq (CPQ) 9.60: Salomon Smith Barney believes that co had a nice rebound in Oct; during a dinner with an analyst, CEO mentioned a "pretty good" Thanksgiving weekend in the US and across-the-board strength in Europe-- first reference to a stronger Europe heard in a long time. Hilalaya, Alpha, and UNIX sales remain stable, and Q4 should be most linear qtr of year. Doesn't sound as good as "robust" but I'll take it as long as he doesn't warn 10 days down the line from here.
