There were quite a lot around here. One friend is a fireman who has gone to 250 plus memorials. Another flew in from Cantor-Fitzs' London office and went to 18 in the four or five days he was here. Everytime you turned around there was a memorial somewhere.

My nephew from ChicagoLand was in that weekend playing golf with me and staying with a floor trader in lower Manhattan. I had to call Chicago to see if he had left. As a bond trader, retired of course...it's a family trait I guess....I thought he might have been tempted to stay an extra day and visit. He and I were on the phone watching television as the second plane hit.

Went to a dinner a week or so later at a friend's home across from ground zero on the Jersey side. Looking at it from his balcony was riveting. He was on the team that built it, and also repaired it in '93. So the conversation was fascinating.

Personally I did not lose anyone close to me, so thank God for small blessings.
