Friday November 30, 3:11 PM S Korea to Cooperate With China to Build Digital City sg.news.yahoo.com SEOUL, Nov 30 Asia Pulse - The Ministry of Information and Technology on Friday penned a letter of intent (LOI) concerning cooperation on China's "Digital City Construction Project" with China's Ministry of Construction in Shenzhen, the ministry said. According to the LOI signed in Shenzhen, China, the two countries would work together to promote the exchange of information, technology, workers and events such as seminars. Concrete cooperative steps would be discussed next March or April in Korea. The Chinese government plans to build 20 million cyber apartments equipped with state-of-the-art information technology, including the global positioning system (GPS) and intelligent transportation system (ITS). The ministry said the agreement will provide local information technology (IT) companies a firm foothold to enter the 20 trillion won (US$15.78 billion) project. (Yonhap)
