The Fed has so overextended itself already in anticipating collapses that never happened that it can hardly act dramatically in this case. And since it's not directly a banking matter, it's not clear if it would want to act. But the ENE could be a catalyst, possibly similar to the Austrian bank collapse in 1929, the Credit-Anstalt.

I keep trying to reach a 1 trillion dollar impact by adding the numbers up so I can say 10% of GDP destroyed- but it sure takes a lot of 50-100 Million hits to get there...
