eBay (EBAY) 67.54 +1.30: -- Before Open -- Two firms completed studies of EBAY's auction activity: Prudential's proprietary analysis suggests that the company's Q4 2001 results will be better than expectations; they believe gross merchandise from U.S. sales will be up approximately 15% sequentially; Prudential reiterates their Buy rating and $75 price target on the stock. ABN AMRO's study focused on sequential q/q growth (excluding post 9/11) and believes their Q4 and FY 2001 estimates remain intact; however, they view the recent momentum in the stock - up 20% in the last 14 trading days - as unwarranted and based upon increased optimism for Q4 2001 online retail. ABN AMRO maintains their Hold rating on EBAY.
