No, we are the folks who understand the proper role of the Federal government and recognize that it has neglected its first duty - defense - and grown like the blob into areas where it has no business being - social welfare.

Aren't Republicans the folks who've been complaining that government is "too much with us"? Since 9/11 however, they've done a complete 180;

This post of yours is just more silliness.....

In time of war, as citizens we should expect to see our rights curtailed to a degree to insure that we still have a country where those rights mean something. Now in this case the rights of combatant aliens have been proposed to be compromised to a degree. And spare me the BS about there being no formal declaration of war. This is a war. If we don't expect to live in fear, we need to take all necessary steps to smash these terror networks and exclude the terrorists from our home.

Aw Karen, they will blame the loss of freedom in America on Bill Clinton, they are already blaming Bush's absolute blowing of the budget into massive deficit on Clinton

karen you do know that the Size of the military was halved from the beginning of mr. bill's time till the end. Now there was surplus with all the money not spent on defense. But 911 would tell most that America was perceived to have and had to little defense.

Do see the logic in what I have just said.

Now I am also curious about what states rights that Mr.Ashcroft is interfering with. What Constitutional rights have been given up by any American?????

In light of this (and as you might know Aschcroft is fully in support of the 2nd) it doesn't hold up that this administration is seeking an end to constitutional rights (at least for citizens). Why on earth would you seek to arm those you are about to disenfranchise?
