You can't cheat an honest man or con another con. Alas, that old saw's completely untrue. It's easy to cheat honest people, though easier to cheat partially honest but very greedy ones. Cons, however, are a piece of cake to con. If they're really good, they believe in their scam, at least while they're pitching it. And they're extremely susceptible to being ripped off by others like themselves. I can't say I'd ever heard before that Bradford bragged of having a billion dollar business. Maybe he'd been involved with Jeanette, with all that that implies, for longer than we believed.
