Does a week a month or two make any difference. I believe by letting the Afghans take back their country with assistance was the best solution from every standpoint. This place where there style is surrender is the better part of valor among Afghans would most likely been a lot different with Americans doing the fighting. But the the most pressing consideration is America would have been hard pressed to launch and support a ground Army of ten thousands in a country that is land locked by hundreds of miles. This is the Military that mr. bill left America. If we have the troops, we don't have the lift capability.

Pakistan would have to had tens of thousands of Americans. By letting the Afghans have their success they have saved face and can move on with less bitterness.

If one remembers the 7 day War. Even thought Egypt got it's ass kicked all over. The Egyptians take it as a victory because they won for five minutes. This silly mindset was very important to the acceptance of the peace process and agreements between Israel and Egypt. These folks have a very strange idea about face. I think it is common in places where they don't realize they don't even have a pot to .... in.

The method chosen was win win win win all the way. Sadly some American soldiers may still die, but the outcome and the human cost is a monumental achievement for President Bush.

DD,

Yes, fun to watch.

It is clear that the Afghan Talibeans are a much different breed than the "foreigners." It seems that to the Afghans, war is the national sport, and they are not so much concerned with what side they fight on. But the Saudis and Pakistanis and so forth evidently are far more zealous, and will fight to the death, and the hell with the bombs.

I think they'll be fighting each other for many, many years to come. Just hope we're not involved in that BS, once the job there is done. I seriously doubt that they either want or are prepared for a form of government that even remotely resembles ours. No sense in trying to foist one on them, that just seems to be a lose-lose proposition.

JMVHO.....
