Palestinians have been kicked off their land (like american indians) and oppressed. I believe they have legitimate claims against Israel. Arabs in Israel, or any non-jew, do not have equal civil rights in that country. Similar to aparthied South Africa. The situation in Afghanistan is due to lack of education, poverty and lawlessness caused by years of being pawns in a larger geopolitical power play -- ie Russian invasion, U.S. support of opposition to the Soviets... and then the military and financial pullout by both sides leaving the country totally broken and in the hands of criminals. That's the difference I perceive.
