Dan3, It certainly looks like there is a tight supply situation for some P-4. celerons are dead in the water.
The Athlons seems to be in good supply and the OEMs are in larger demand.

The real figure needed on their site is how many they have sold, or how many days supply that stock level is.
Of course they might not want to share that data with their competition. Static numbers say little about how many are selling.
If they get 2000 more each day of the part and sell 2000 a day it will appear static.

One thing the huge excess of celerons make me feel they are in oversupply, and not just stocked in depth to satisfy large sales demand.

Bill.

Dan3 Re.. Judging by inventory levels, and the fact that desktop 1800+ supply is good, they seem to be selling more high end Athlon MPs than expected<<<<<<<<

While it would be nice to think these MP's are going into servers and dual systems, the reason likely is that MP's are not locked, and can be overclocked easily; and this has been pointed out by Anand's and Sharkeys.

A question on SMP Athlons: The Tyan SMP board was often benchmarked with standard TBirds. Is there any reason Athlon XP's can't be used on any MP Socket A boards?

After all, if TBird's worked, certainly Palomino's of any variety should.

I suspect that the MP chips are tested more thoroughly, and possibly have to meet their specs over a wider temperature range, so an 1800 MP chip may meet the specs for the 1900 in uniprocessor configurations.
