I used to time trial (race against the clock) an Alfa Romeo GTV 6. The actual competition involved 5 timed laps. To let the driver know he was starting his last lap, just as in a regular race, the starter would wave a white flag. For a couple of years I was baffled by the fact the car always ran its fastest lap on the last lap, the white flag lap. Finally it occurred to me. The old girl was getting all pumped up as the Italian battle flag came into view. Get it. The white flag ... the Italian ... Well, never mind, but your navy joke is still the worst Italian joke I ever heard. I'm sure my flag joke runs a close second. Much the way my Alfa ran. :>) Pierre
