Hi all,

I wondered why my ear were burning :)

Fwiw my lower profile is simply because my changed professional focus keeps me focused elsewhere and I am away a lot. But thanks for thinking kindly of me.

Fwiw I've wandered around a bit lately since I was wondering what people were saying re Enron. I thought I'd pass a long a tid bit my friends here might find interesting. Many of you know my views on how messed up Japan is and how seemly incapable they are of taking the right steps to address their problems. Also how their ongoing business practices lead to some seriously silly moves. Well a friend just pointed out that the JGB market was roiled a bit and an unusually large liquidity injection was required. It appears certain funds that did not have to mark to market unlisted corporate securities with maturities of less than 1 year had been investing heavily in short dated Enron paper and carrying it at par. They are now facing large losses.

It just never ends. If it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious.
