If what these guys allege is true you would do well to avoid companies that have a lot of analysts covering them. It appears the more the company needs to draw money from the capital markets, the higher the number of analysts following the company. If you want a good old fashion company that finances its growth from cash flow (do they still exist?), go with one that has little or no coverage.

People frequently forget what analysts do. Most work for brokerages that sell stock, this is why they are called "sell side" analysts. As with any sales person you have to take their opinion with that firmly in mind. What you need to be in order to counter them, is to be a "buy side" analyst.
