Actually, tek, I think you changed topics on me. I'm not actually concerned about fixing either the CIA or the FBI, or at least wasn't in that post. But rather concerned about the questionable constitutional status of the new Dept. of Justice rules and the questionable process by which they are being implemented. I would be more comfortable if more political actors were involved in the process simply because I have no respect for or trust in Ashcroft. Mueller, I don't know about. From what I've read he's not a serious actor in this but rather a good paper pusher.

As for fixing something, I guess, if either or both are broken, I agree with the presumption that the CIA is more critical than the FBI. But not by much; at least if we continue to respect the notion that the FBI does domestic and the CIA does international. I know that's been blurred well beyond revival. Just happens to still be in my memory banks.
