I watched the streaming video of that interview, although (sorry) I can no longer locate the link. It appeared that Zander was either very tired or not feeling well. In any case, he wasn't up to hiding his annoyance at having to give an interview to a callow "reporter" half his age rather than a more senior journalist.

Bravo for Ed Zander. This is how PR announcements work, If you make a negative opinion, your call will have a mildly negative effect on the stock if any. However, if you make an optimistic opinion, your call could backfire so badly if the real news is bad so that there will be a loss of credibility. In the latter scenario the stock price will plummet.

So it's best to be overly pessimistic in all statements.
