It is pointed out that i did not in this post make sufficient distinction between USA-the-Machine and the individuals under its control ... very well then -

Of course we know the people to be made up of widely varying personality types holding widely varying opinions on everything under the sun, of course .... duh ... give us some credit, we know you inside out and backwards, we get your media fully as much as our own and on top of the rest of the world's .... try me, name any one of your fourty-seven states -g- [shouldn't have to use emoticons on that but it seems a rather dense world out there today] and i will instantly rattle off its capital its most prominent politician and what perfidy he did and when ... here, a self-quiz - state of Bacardi - capital Miami, politician Helms, law The Act That Says Mr Delaney's Daughter Can't Go To DisneyWorld

See? ... and lots of personal connections - my pickup was built in Kansas City Missouri, for years i drove it with a windscreen cracked right across real low because i didn't want to lose the sticker that said that, thought it sounded cool, always liked the name Missouri, and Kansas too .... my bush iron has always been from Dubuque, always, never liked that Peoria bunch, you pay extra for the name for some reason, anyway the Dubuque outfit has a dealer i like better ... getting more personal, the other night i discover that my wife's friend's relatives have months ago arrived from a country to the south to, guess where, Kansas City Missouri .... more personal than that gets no details

But there are millions more with even more connections, add them up these two nations are inextricably linked .... whoops, did i say 'inextricably'? ... must have been old habit, for it is certainly not the flavour of the day, is it ... no wait, this post was supposed to be about the individuals, right then, we'll get back to them later

'When you got nothin', you got nothin' to lose' - #reply-16734819 ... now Jim and i we've had our problems, well guy sounds like an accountant and me a wetcoast logger so what do you expect eh, but any man who can quote Dylan in the course of a political rant can't be 'inextricably' anal-retentive can he, so we salute you Citizen Kayne, never fear, 'from each according to his aptitudibility, to each according to whether he gets caught or naught' ... but i cannot figure what means 'SIGs' in his post ... 'scum in government'? ... hmmm, do tell

But hey, i personally subsidised timber today, yes this very afternoon ... couldn't control myself, maybe it's true what they say about british columbians, there i was with saw and machete in a stand of ten-year old saplings on the back fourty, and i set right to whacking out the alder and trimming limbs and cutting out double tops etc ... whiz-bang, it happens that fast, and since never will i get a wage for that nor calculable return on investment for time and energy expended, that timber is subsidised, so when it comes harvest time in say sixty years and assuming i haven't yet been incarcerated by the CIA for suggesting that the Commerzwaffe might not invariably fart in flawless perfumous odours, then it's bye bye miss canehjun pie, took mah lumber to the border but the yanqui couldn't buy, them good ol' boys was stuck with yeller pine, singin this here is the day we decry, this here is the day we decry

Right, now, the individuals ... well, two hundred eighty-five millions population, has to be some of 'em eh ... stands to reason

It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that it ain't exactly real,
or it's real but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day;
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming through a crack in the wall,
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the sorrow on the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of G-d in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on
o mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
past the Reefs of Greed
through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on

It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the women and the men.
O baby, we'll be making love again.
We'll be going down so deep
that the river's going to weep,
and the mountain's going to shout Amen!
It's coming like the tidal flood
beneath the lunar sway,
imperial, mysterious,
in amorous array:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on
o mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
past the Reefs of Greed
through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on

I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean:
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

[one problem being of course that this time around Florida seems to have ejaculated republicans instead ... but hey, what's four years with all those roots and berries around]
