Westi: Talk about praise reports; this one , I think, is almost between humorous and funny; but it demonstrates how we have fought 10 out of the last 5 wars in our minds and almost give up without a fight many times; you know the woe is me ,here we go again, I'm defeated again syndrome. Gene is telling me he is going to the doctor again. This time the eye doctor. His diabetes is out of control. It has caused severe damage to the retina of his eye. He can't see and it has been getting worse and worse. ( This is all true !!! ) He really has had diabetes for years and his vision has been getting worse. His local doctor recommends a specialist. They are going to reattach his retina and stop the damage and try to save what is left of his vision. He catches up on his work and gets ready for a several day stay in the hospital. Gene has back slid. He used to be a Baptist preacher but I finally after 3 years of witnessing got him going to church again. It had been 15 years since they had been in church. He brings his wife and step son with him. They used to be alcoholics. His wife would out drink him. She a fifth every night and him a half fifth a night . Just guess how his and her health has been affected by the drinking they used to do. Every time they would come into my store I would pray for them. I prayed for them before they went to the eye doctor last Monday. Gene was at church this morning. I went up to him and hugged him and asked how the eye doctor visit went. He looked at me and said. Fine ! I said how fine ? He was choking up, but explained that the doctor examined him looked in his eyes and said Gene." I dont see any damage the diabetes has done to your eyes . " Gene said. " Doctor !!!! I cant see. My vision is getting worse and worse. Dont tell me that you cant see any damage in there." "What about my doctor at home ? He sent me down here.!! Is he crazy or something. He said I had a detached retina etc... The doctor scratced his head and said Gene , I dont know why you can't see?? Have you ever worn glasses ? He said NO I Haven't..well let me examine your vision...the doctor did and all Gene needed was a pair of glasses. I have no idea what God did for Gene , may never know, but Gene went from going blind to needing glasses .....Praise to Him that sits on the throne.In Christ .gregor
