trade it like you see it. Long or short makes no difference to me -- want to be on the right side, too.
An extended move beyond the end of the year looks unloikely to me because I think

1) many have already bought the recovery and then bought
2) a large number of shorts have already pushed the indices far beyond where they were before the slide started
3) all the bulls I know are already fully invested for the return of the bull, needing a considerable move from here to recover from the drubbing they took in 00 and 01

This is different from '98 in that there is quite a disconnect with what people are saying in these surveys -- both individuals and business people and what is happening with stocks.
