FWIW on the anecdotal evidence side, between August-October I noticed quite an increase of homes on the market and time on the market appeared to be increasing. I have known for some time that I would be putting my home on the market in early 2002 so I have kept an eye on the market here in Northern NJ.

Perhaps many have evacuated NYC, but there is very little inventory on the market here now. But where I am looking to move to in the Midwest looks very weak with builders flooding the market with more castles and manufacturing stumbling along.

I suspect I will rent, maybe OSX will be scraping bottom when my home equity is freed up.

NBR <$25 a share or 20% down on a risky housing investment?
