Thanks for that note Joey.

We all came to know Ellen from this thread and her bullheaded attitude, but also as a good person.

She will be sorely missed.

-Ken-

p.s. Guess I won't get that lunch out of her she owed me.

I conversed with Ellen occasionally both pre- and post-RMIL-meltdown and though I won't go into the pre- side, I was pleasantly surprised to find that long after RMIL was gone (in the trading sense), she had become a far wiser, very pleasant person.

Outside of and far removed from the vehement chaos this thread represented, she was a person whose acquaintance anyone would be glad to make.

I won't go into the details, but her attitude was one of a person who quietly accepted that they'd been had, and rather than being bitter about it, resolved to incorporate the experience into future decisions.

The difference was so great, I once stumbled onto one of her posts in some thread I was reading and submitted it to David Z as a Cool Post nomination (I don't remember if it got included) and PM'd her about it and something to the effect of "Awright. Who the heck are you and what have you done with Ellen?" We had a short, friendly exchange after that.

Ellen reinforced my belief that there are really very few "bad people". Most people are "good people" and if you think they're "bad", it's really more a matter of the situation in which you find them and how they choose to react to it.

Ellen, you were a good person. It was a sincere pleasure to have made your acquaintance.

joseph,

My deepest condolences to you and other folks that were fortunate to be included as one of Ellen's cyber-friends. I know well the feeling of loss, having unexpectedly lost a cyber-friend myself a little over a year ago now.

I was not as well acquainted with Ellen as you apparently were. I know very little about her other than the thoughts she posted, and most of that was not very recent. Some time ago I looked at her profile to see where she was currently posting, and I saw an absence of recent posts, with her most recent interest being one of the political threads (not my cup of tea, thank you), and I presumed that she had lost interest in the markets due to the current bear situation in tech stocks and had simply stopped participating. I had no inkling that she might have been ill.

SI has now lost another "voice" so to speak.

One suggestion for you though. The RMIL thread is not as well read as it once was. I'm sure that there are many other folks that traded posts with Ellen that would want to know of these unfortunate circumstances. Might I humbly suggest that you re-post your notice on a more widely read thread, such as the "Welcome to Silicon Investor" thread? I'm certain that there's many more SI citizens that would pay their respects.

Thank you.

KJC

Well, from what I recall, she was as instrumental in promoting this scam as were Riley & Pugs.

There was a whole lot of hatred within her and a total lack of rational thinking. She thought she knew it all and she lead others to financial ruin.

Make her a martyr now that she is gone if you want. Reality suggests otherwise.
