Reagan recognized it was a mistake to have marines there, so he pulled em out. He didn't take a poll first. Thats what leaders do, admit when they've made a mistake and take action without doing a poll first. Maybe what you really miss is the 90s. To paraphrase James Wolcott...."the zeitgeist of a decade - its assumptions, political climate, design elements, status symbols, slang, and overall jizz....." The 90s ended on Sept 11 richie.
