Those folks were courageous. September 11 will be a day that will remain in our thoughts forever. As a nation, I don't believe we will ever forget what happened on that horrible day. Most of the houses in my
neighborhood fly the American flag. The flag waves on many houses all over the city. Somehow,
I don't believe our lives will ever be the same again. The violent acts that occurred on 9/11
may be a precursor of what is to come. There was an article in yesterday's
New York Times magazine that suggests terrorism will be with us for a very long
time and that it will not go away with the death of Osama bin Laden.

The article is frightening. The author predicts a depression in the next couple of years.

Always, I thought the best was behind us in the 1990s, but I thought in terms of the
environment. I never imagined that terrorism would become a serious threat.
